Back to Nature
Loima art house, Loimaa
- 24.4.2024–28.9.2024
The series "Back to Nature" deals with vanishing small villages and single farms and houses.
Many small farms have been inhabited for generations, filled with life. Now they vanish back to the nature bit by bit. There are still some visible traces and monuments remaining of the old times that are now about to disappear. The only thing left of some dwellings might just be a mossy pile of stones in the middle of the forest.
The series is also a statement about the long ongoing development where small rural locations have no means for living, as all services and jobs are concentrated to bigger cities and centres of population. These pictures are a part of todays Finnish countryside, a view that will be more and more common.
I walk in the forest every day with my dogs and the idea and the atmosphere of this series is inspired by these walks. The series is born from seeing and experiencing, from dreams and mental images, and yet reality.
The philosophical idea of the series is also to remind us about the mortality of man and how everything is perishable.
