Vantaa in the 1990s
Vantaa City Museum, Vantaa
- 26.3.2024–4.8.2024
Vantaa—like many of its young residents—grew up in the shadow of the years of depression. The city subsisted on a student budget, but its residents were willing to volunteer for the common good. Businesses engaged in charity and organized cultural activities.
At the end of the decade, the economy improved, and the city, with the courage of youth, began to invest in the future. Vantaa began to develop itself into an airport city that attracts both industrial and export companies. At the beginning of the new millennium, the young city seems to have found its place in the world.

At the same time, Vantaa City Museum presents the Ysäri (“the 1990s”) exhibition, produced by the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, which describes in more detail the decade of vast changes that ended the millennium.
