A mini exhibition about finnish war children in the Military Museum at Suomenlinna.
During the wars, about 75,000 children were sent away to Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The majority of war children went to Sweden. Most of the children were happy in their new homes, but there was also abuse. Eventually, those children who returned to Finland after the wars adapted. However, many war children felt rootless and abandoned for the rest of their lives.
The Military Museum's mini exhibition offers the opportunity to experience the feelings of war children at the moment of departure, life in a foreign country, and their return to Finland.
