Ansu – Graphic artist Anneli Klemola
Saarijärvi Museum, Saarijärvi
- 16.5.2026–13.9.2026
Graphics and rarer works from paintings to ink prints.

Saarijärvi-based graphic artist Anneli “Ansu” Klemola turned 90 on October 16, 2025. Klemola graduated from the Finnish Academy of Arts in 1959 as a painter. However, she is known as a graphic artist for her woodcuts that glow with strong, energetic colors. An encounter with a fellow student, Frans “Fransu” Toikkanen brought Anneli to Saarijärvi in Central Finland, to Frans’s home farm in 1960. The eventful artistic life of the artist couple Ansu and Fransu is also highlighted in the exhibition, especially in Klemola’s more personal works.
The exhibition features a cross-section of her artistic career, which in addition to color woodcuts, also features rarer works, such as paintings, ink drawings and metal graphics.
Klemola's works have been brought together for the exhibition from the Saarijärvi Museum, the Saarijärvi Mannila Art Foundation, the Beda, Katri and Aune Herala Foundation, Anneli Klemola, and private collections.
