Radio – 100 Years in Jakobstad

This exhibition presents the history of radio in Jakobstad through objects and photographs from the museum’s collections. It follows the story from radio’s early breakthrough, when the first local broadcasts were launched, through the development of radio activity at key sites in the city. As radio later became part of the national broadcasting company, organizational changes led to new facilities and the emergence of bilingual local programming. Although broadcasting eventually ended at its original location, radio in Jakobstad continued to evolve under new names and forms.
