The Skogster Museum is the main building of the Hämeenlinna City Museum. On the ground floor there is a cozy museum lobby, a reference library, and a museum shop, as well as the Soppi exhibition space. On the upper floor of the Skogster Museum, there is a larger space for temporary exhibitions and the Savings Bank Museum’s exhibition.
In 2026, the main exhibition is Kannuksenpyörä – The Häme Ryijy Rug 15.1.2026–12.4.2026. Exhibition presents textiles, mainly pile rugs from the collections of the Hämeenlinna City Museum, celebrating this long and colorful tradition of craftsmanship from the Häme region.
At Soppi, 4.11.2025–24.5.2026 Focus to Infinity- exhibition highlights a small yet meaningful selection from the vast Hämeenlinna City Museum’s photography collection connecting images and scenes from the past with the present day.
The building also houses the City Museum’s office, research services, and the cultural environment unit. The Hämeenlinna City Museum provides research services as the regional responsibility museum for Kanta-Häme and maintains four museum sites: the Skogster Museum, the Palander House, the Birthplace of Jean Sibelius, and the Savings Bank Museum.
