The Imperial Fishing Lodge, surrounded by beautiful rapid scenery, was built for Czar Alexander III in 1889.
Langinkoski imperial fishing lodge and surrounding rapid scenery offers a glimpse to the imperial history of Finland. This elegant lodge and its unique interiors are a memory of the peaceful summer days that emperor Alexander III and empress Maria Feodorovna spent with their children in Langinkoski. The imperial fishing lodge of Langinkoski was built for Emperor Alexander III of Russia and inaugurated in 1889.
In the area of the bountiful fishing waters of Langinkoski, the emperor and his family would spend summer days fishing and enjoying each other’s company, free from the obligations of court life in St Petersburg.
After Finland became independent, the beautiful Langinkoski area and its buildings were in government use until they were opened as a museum in the 1930s.
