The Suomen Joutsen Frigate has sailed the seas of the world, acting as a cargo vessel, a naval training ship, and as a base for minesweeping operations. This marvelous craft is open during summers, docked at the Forum Marinum.
The frigate Suomen Joutsen was assembled at Saint Nazaire in France 1902, being part of a series of sailingcargoships supported by the french state. Under the name Laënnec, the ship transported wheat-, coal-, and nitratcargo mainly between Europe and North- and South America and Australia. In the 1920´s the ship was sold to Germany
