The Finnish Museum of Games
Museum Centre Vapriikki, Tampere
- 10.10.2026–
The exhibition at the Finnish Museum of Games is a unique collection on an international scale, telling the long history of Finnish games and their significance to the people who play them. As the museum celebrates its tenth anniversary, the renovation brings more space and a new visual identity.

The exhibition features 110 Finnish games representing a wide range of game formats. In addition to digital games, the collection includes role-playing games, board games, card games and live-action role-playing games (larps). Driving simulators and miniature games also have their place in the exhibition, and visitors can play most of the games. The exhibition spans more than a century of gaming history, from 19th-century board games to games released in the current year.
Two of the six themed rooms have been transformed, introducing a service station and a summer cottage. The renewed exhibition offers an even more diverse picture of Finnish games and their significance to society, appealing both to experienced enthusiasts and to those who play games less frequently.
A nostalgic atmosphere and hands-on gaming remain at the heart of this popular museum, while updated gaming stations and a new colour scheme give the exhibition a fresh look. Not everything has been changed, however, and the spirit of the original exhibition is still present in the renewed version.
The Finnish Museum of Games collects, studies and presents phenomena related to gaming cultures, the history of game industry professionals and materials that are meaningful to players as part of the collections of Tampere Museums. A distinctive feature of the museum’s work is its close collaboration with diverse communities.
